Benchmark Setup & Testing

AMD Athlon64 3400+
AOpen AK86-L
Gigabyte KN88XP
Seagate Barracuda SATA V 120 GB 7200 Hard Drive
2 X 256 XMS3202v1.1 Corsair PC3200 DDR
GeforceFX 5950 Ultra 53.03
WinXP SP1

We experienced problems with a pair of Corsair XMS3205v1.1 and the AK86-L refused to post. There was also some problems with a stick of OCZ PC2700 256 Meg 32x64 Basic Series memory during installation of Windows. The AK86-L is quite happy with the Corsair XMS3200v1.1 as there have been no problems with that since but users should be warned that this board may be particularly picky with memory ( or maybe we just had some bad luck ).

Office and Synthetic Benchmarks

Sisoft Sandra

There is little variation in Sisoft Sandra; both the K8NNXP and the AK86-L are pretty even in terms of the numbers put out by Sandra. It does not look like the faster Hypertransport speed of the K8T800 has any effect here.

PCMark04

Futuremark's PCMark04 has the AK86-L edging the K8NNXP in both the CPU and Memory benchmarks. The difference is not too substantial here.

Winstone04

PCMag's Business and Multimedia Content Creation Winstone tell a different story than PCMark04 and it has the K8NNXP besting the AK86-L in both benchmarks.
