AOpen MS-900 5.1 Speakers Review - PAGE 1

AOpen MS-900 5.1 Speakers

Overview

Still have a pair of $20 speakers cranking out your games, MP3s and -- dare I ask -- DVD movies? It’s easy to see why, though; for most, speakers are probably the least regarded component in a complete PC system.

However, with the escalation and popularity of DVD movies, games and MP3’s, the market for higher quality speakers is growing larger and larger. Enter the AOpen MS-900, a 5.1 speaker system, containing five 3” full range satellite speakers, a hefty 5 ¼” wood cabinet subwoofer, and a convenient central command console.

As a company, AOpen has quite a record, being affiliated with Acer and having 20 years experience in the PC industry. However, unlike the other major players in the speaker market, AOpen is highly unspecialized. It’s the Microsoft of the hardware arena, extending its reach into many different areas. AOpen makes everything from motherboards, sound cards to monitors, to say the very least. With such little specialization, my first impression was one of doubt. However, in putting the MS-900 to the test, I found some positive results.
