Altec Lansing VS4121 Review - PAGE 1
Gabriel Vega - Thursday, October 2nd, 2003

Finding the most for your money in speakers is always a tough choice. Speakers claim extremely high levels of wattage and seem to deliver only fractions of what they state and worse by the time that people realize it. The speakers are most likely quite damaged. Other famous items are poor drivers chosen for the speakers resulting in muffled sounds or poor high frequency response due to dependence on the midrange to handle all of the sounds. The VS4121 features quite a few drivers and the classic long-throw 6.5" sub with it to take on this issue.

Packaging with the VS4121 system is simple. Altec Lansing does make sure to include all of the items that you'll most likely need when running the system including their famous AAC-001 Y converter from RCA connections to 3.5mm stereo headphone connections. The following are a list of standard items in the box with the specs from Altec Lansing.

Unlike my 641 box this thing will not break your back when you pick it up. The contents are light at 14lbs and the system is very easy to connect making it simple to install for the first time owner and its quick enough for the gamer on the go to hook up at a friend’s house with a few quick plugs to link up.

Instead of aiming to blow the set by cranking mass amounts of music through it I used the default stops to break in the speakers for a bit with classical pieces from the Evangelion soundtrack on mild volume. Of course the system will not give the best music until properly worn in so I decided not to hold the response against it that I was receiving as things seated in. These things will face music, gaming and movies to push it to the limits of performance.
