Movies
I would say that the ATP5 is a very fun set of speakers for movies. The bass works well in movies despite the subwoofers lack of lowest end extension. Movies were quite enjoyable the soundstage was clean and speaker to speaker pans sounded subtle and smooth. We have no problems with
Gaming
The ATP5 worked well in games. It lacked some of the tight bass Im used to with other speakers, but the 28mm drivers reproduced gaming effects accurately and with excitement. I couldnt help but notice that explosions and bass heavy effects had a lot of oomph, but lacked definition. Positional audio worked well, but perhaps with less precision compared to speakers like the BA4800, which have better overall stereo separation qualities.
The ATP5 can be turned up fairly high, and sometimes when you are gaming, boomy bass is a bonus. Which is what I found with one or two of my games. On the other hand, the lack of low end extension is definitely noticeable when you are in the midst of a fire-fight; it just sounds different.
Finale
I may have complained about the speakers in the music section, but I have to admit I really enjoyed testing the ATP5. In spite of the boomy bass, there is a lot of material that I could play on the ATP5 with satisfying results. Admittedly, some songs were literally ruined by the soundstage and bass, but a lot of songs actually sounded better than normal.
Would I recommend this to you? Without hesitation, I would tell you that this is a speaker worth considering, if you are looking for something in the $150 range. If you enjoy listening to music casually, playing games, and watching movies on your system, this set will do it all, and you shouldnt be disappointed with its performance. If you are a stickler for perfect sound though, you may want to look elsewhere. I am picky with speakers, and even I would enjoy having this set for my computer system.
