Altec Lansing AHS-602 Review - PAGE 1Gabriel Vega - Sunday, September 19th, 2004
Introduction
A computer these days handles just about every single entertainment aspect of life in one shot, gaming, videos, audio and even communications. As a result people usually tend to incorporate high wattage surround sound systems as well. The downsides that come with such a thing are obviously higher electric bills and of course complaints from the neighbors. For many, the new alternative is going for higher performance headphones to do the job, high quality drivers and noise reduction being the key components to give a feel of rich sound without the complaints.
Altec Lansing is one of many companies trying to step back into the high end headphone market with the AHS-602 headset. The AHS-602 incorporates noise reduction techniques and takes things a step further with the addition of SRS Surround Sound support built into the remote and a microphone on the side for the FPS players out there seeking something better for their practice sessions in games like Counterstrike. The only real requirement to utilize the full features of the remote is 1 AAA battery. Other than that the features work without a problem right out of the box.
Seeing as how I do love experiencing how headphones perform (especially with SRS surround) I decided to throw out quite a few things this time around.
