Conclusion
The Abit NF7 offers generous features, the most notable for us being the complete
onboard audio outputs. The BIOS is clean, useable, and functional for overclockers.
Performance wise, the board is top knotch for desktop use, though it lagged
behind the AU11 in gaming performance.
I have no doubt that if you opt for the NF7 series you should steer yourself
towards the NF7-S. For our purposes the audio outputs puts the NF7 in our favour.
I'm a little concerned about the consistently lower gaming scores - a 2-3% difference
in scores isn't anything to get excited about statiscally, but in a market where
5% is a major difference within a group of boards using the same chipset, hardcore
gamers might be adverse to choosing the NF7-S. I think this to be a shame, since
the NF7 has top marks in all other areas, including Abit's excellent and peerless
website which offers plenty of technical information and details on the features
and components compatible with the board.
In making the effort to produce a more popular revision of this board, Abit
has shown its commitment to overclockers and hardcore users. This is a company
that listens to the community, and their products and the quality of their products
show it.
