Sapphire is as a brand mostly known for its AMD-based graphics cards solutions, but they do also venture into other segments of the market, and over the years they have been known to release a motherboard or two. These included the likes of their AM3 based IPC-AM3DD785G, and PE-I7RC410M, which used the Intel LGA 775 socket. For the most part the prior motherboards from Sapphire were geared more toward the mainstream consumer and didn’t necessarily include any high-end features.
Their latest motherboard lineup, however, is designed to be an enthusiast grade productline that comes packaged with a very robust feature set and high-quality components. The motherboards are branded ‘PURE Black’ and the model we are looking at includes features such as on-board USB 3.0, SATA III and 3 Gen2 PCI-Express slots that work in a x16/x8/x8 configuration. In addition to this, the Pure Black is based on the X58 chipset and supports all current LGA-1366 processors, including the i7 980X.
Sapphire is releasing two new motherboards based on their latest PURE Black design. One utilizes the LGA-1366 socket along with the X58 chipset while the other is a Sandy Bridge LGA-1155 offering. In this review we will be looking at the PURE Black X58 motherboard to see if Sapphire has cooked up a winning design.

Don't know where you got this number from, as all the X58 boards I have seen, allow for up to 24GB of memory.[link name=]http://www.sapphiretech.com/presentation/product/?cid=2&leg=&psn=000102&gid=1039&sgid=1051[/link]
The only other things I don't like about the design of this board is for $300; Sapphire should have done away with the PS2/ keyboard, the legacy IDE connector, and the PCI 32 bit slot...if I have the money to blow on an X58 board, then I want the latest technology, not legacy parts cluttering up my board.
