Soltek Qbic SL-3901a K8T800Pro 939 Cube - PAGE 6
Andy Zen - Wednesday, January 12th, 2005

BIOS Screenshots

While the BIOS of the 3901a is not the most robust that we have seen, it is one of the better ones in the SFF systems that we have taken a look at.

CPU Clock200-250 Mhz
AGP Bus LockableYes
CPU Core Voltage0.800 - 1.7 in 0.025 V increments
Memory Voltage2.6- 2.9V in 0.1V increments
AGP Voltage1.5-1.8 V in 0.1V increments
Memory Ratio1:2, 2:3, 5:6, 1:1 (100, 133, 166,200 Mhz)

We do get a good selection of voltages on both the core and memory side. Memory tweaking is a bit on the limited side with the only options being the CAS latency, 1T/2T Timing and RAS to CAS delay being adjustable.

Overclocking

Due to popular demand, we have started to do overclocking tests on our new SFFs. Personally I'm against it as heat build in such confined spaces can be fairly significant. On the other hand, there is definitely a demand for a high performance SFF, and what more can you do than to overclock the hell out of one. Especially since there is no visible difference between the first generation Solteks and the current generation - the only deciding factor is performance. In any case, we managed to get the bus speed to 220 Mhz . However, after 220 Mhz, it managed to corrupt our SATA hard drive. At 10%, this isn't significant by any means, but like I mentioned, heat buildup in these things are pretty significant. On the other hand, 10% is a lot more than some other SFFs like the Condor, which had no BIOS options at all. The lack of a SATA lock is fairly disappointing nonetheless - this is not a problem with Soltek's K8T800Pro desktop board that we will be looking at shortly.
