Our testing showed time and again that the Corsair Force GT can deliver transfer speeds nearly twice that of the fastest SATA 2 drives. However, read and write ratings of over 500MB/s are becoming standard in the SSD market as more manufacturers are adopting the SF-2000 SSD processor. With this being the case, each new drive has to have something that makes it different, something that can make it perform even better than the competition. To that end, the Corsair Force GT uses a specific kind of memory to improve the performance in comparison to other SSDs.
To achieve this higher degree of performance, the Force GT series utilizes 25nm ONFI synchronous NAND flash memory which allows the drive to excel at reading and writing compressed data. This gives the drive faster real-world performance when dealing with files such as video, music and graphic data. In addition to the improved performance with compressed files, the Force GT also delivers a high degree of performance when booting a PC, launching applications, and saving large files and documents. So, the Force GT is going to be able to boost your computer's data transfer performance, but it also improves overall computing as well.
The only downside to the Force GT is that it comes with a higher premium than an SSDs using a standard asynchronous flash memory design. So, while this drive may perform better with certain files and have better real-world performance than other SF-2000 drives, it will comes with higher retail pricing of $289 for the 120GB model. Also, the performance difference between this drive and the SATA 6Gb/s competition might not even be noticeable to the average consumer, which might make it hard to justify the price difference.
While the Force GT comes at a higher premium, we can't deny it is still one of the fastest solid state drives available, and performs better when dealing with compressed data as well. This makes it an exceptional product, and one that is well worth the investment.
