Coolermaster Centurion 540 m-ATX Case Review
A couple years back, Intel put forth a proposal to completely overhaul the entire PC industry's standards with the release of the LGA 775 platform. Gone were the legacy AGP slots, the aging DDR memory, the ZIF CPU sockets and finally, the inefficient ATX standard. All in the name of the shiny and new PCI express slots, the not-necessarily-faster DDR2 memory, LGA 'sockets' and the 'technologically-superior' BTX form factor.
For better or for worse, all of the new technologies have been embraced by the community (well, forced down our collective throats), with the exception of the BTX form factor. Despite being a superior technology, the form factor was not compatible with modern AMD architecture, and so has not seen large scale adoption.
Today we have the Coolermaster Centurion 540 m-ATX version, which is (as the description says), a micro ATX case that also has a micro BTX counterpart. The 540 BTX version looks exactly the same as the ATX version, with many of the same features. The only differences are the mounting holes, and even then the ATX version takes elements of BTX design into account. How this works will be explained later.
