AOpen AK79D-400 MAX - PAGE 1

AOpen has been a big manufacturer of OEM parts for many years but recently has been making inroads into the enthusiast segment of the market. Today we look at AOpen's AK79D - 400Max, a nForce2 Ultra 400 + MCP-T based offering. While it is not as distinctive as the AX4B 533 reviewed some time back, it is a compelling product for those in the market for an AMD based board.

The nForce2 is still the fastest platform for Athlon XP based CPUs. VIA has been catching up with their KT600 based boards but the nForce2 has an advantage of being a solid overclocker, keeping a lock in on the AMD enthusiast segment. With many manufacturers producing nForce2 based boards, AOpen has added some solid features to their board which sets them apart from their competition.
