In Doom 3, the 8600 GTS again has numbers similar to the PowerColor X1950 Pro. Considering both of those cards are priced in the same range, and that the 8600 GTS adds DX10 and PureVideo HD, this is a very positive turning for the GTS.

For the case of Quake 4 with AA/AF on,  the 8600 GTS is within 10 FPS  of the XFX 7950 GT. While this isn't an expected result, the difference margin in FPS are actually quite ordinary if you take card pricing into consideration.
