The bundle XFX includes with the 8600 GTS is quite thin. The only notable extra of the bundle that stands out is the included game Ghost Recon: Advanced War Fighter.
Keeping with the budget card tradition, the XFX box for the 8600 GTS is quite minuscule too, about the size of a regular text book. The art on the box is a spinoff of the Wolfman from XFX's 8800 GTX box art and is very attractive.
- Ghost Recon: Advanced War Fighter.
- Single DVI port converter
- S-video cables
- 4 pin Molex to PCIe power adapter.
- Driver CD
- User Manual

The benchmark system used to test the 8600 GTS consist of:
The beta drivers used are the ForceWare 158.16 from Nvidia.
The games tested are:
- 3DMark 2006
- Far Cry
- Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory
- DOOM 3
- Quake 4
- F.E.A.R.
- Prey
- X3
- Company of Heroes
For comparison we chose a number of cards in the price range of the 8600 GTS. NVIDIA intends the 8600 to be a successor to the 7600 GT, but with its launch pricing between $199 and $239 USD, comparisons to last generation cards at the same price point are inevitable.
