On our laptop, typical usage would heat up the base of the unit enough that we would squirm and wriggle to remain comfortable as the darn thing baked our legs and seared our palms. With the Cooler in place, the laptop was much MUCH more tolerable in certain areas, but unfortunately, after the battery heated up, that part of the laptop was nearly as bad as it would be without the cooler. We did notice that the laptop took considerably longer to heat up with the cooler in place (even the battery took longer to heat up), and in short spurts the laptop remained extremely comfortable. It's when we start to run the computer for longer periods that the left most part begins to really get hot - thanks to the battery.
So in the end, it didn't help with making the laptop more comfortable overall, but in short spurts, even the areas closer to the battery took longer to heat up, and the parts further away remained nice and cool, which meant that our system didn't lock up once from heat related problems (as it does at least once or twice in every session, under normal usage, and without the cooler). Which is exactly what the Cooler is meant to do: keep the CPU and related components cooler so that they could run more reliably, and so that they could have a longer life. So in that respect, the Laptop Cooler is quite effective.
As if the effectiveness of the cooler were not enough, the Laptop Cooler comes with a snazzy custom protective case. Because the cooler extrudes from the laptop when installed, it is HIGHLY recommended that you remove the device before packing your laptop away for any trips. We were rather impressed at the thoroughness of the entire package... JustCooler really made a thoughtful, and effective product, and it's an inexpensive piece of equipment.
