8-10:30 NVidia Media Press Conference - Bellagio Grand Ballroom 5
   |
| The lineup for the long awaited Press Conference |
There was a large mass of people crowded around the doors of the Bellagio's Grand Ballroom number 5. When the doors opened at 8AM on the dot, three lines formed inside the entrance of the ballroom where a table at each head of the lines was setup with people signing people in. Once getting through the line, I entered the main ballroom where you could see three screens setup (middle picture) at the stage, and rows of tables with cutlery setup for those who were going to take their breakfast while watching the presentation. As I looked back at the rows of tables leading all the way to the buffet, I could see more & more attendees filing through grabbing some breakfast and readying themselves for the big announcement.

| Truck Gets Rusty & Wood Rottens |
Jen Hsun Huang introduced Mark Daly, the man in charge of producing NVidia demos which show off their new and improved hardware. He showed that with the new pixel shader technology, he can use sliders to control the point in time and gradually change the aging of the vehicle. The pictures may not show the detail perfectly but when he adjusted the slider, you could see that the paint on the truck would dull, and then start rusting. As the aging process increased, the wood in the flat bed lost its finish and would look more and more striated.

| Silent Running, New Characters & Home Movie |
While technology increases, NVidia makes it known that their newest performance card runs quiet. The second picture shows the new characters made for their demos. These include the Ogre from the Yeah the movie.de, and Dawn the frontally enhanced thumbelina. The third picture shows another demo which looks similar to a Toy Story typed animation. Sliders were used here to demonstrate the ability to change the shader to make the picture look like it was made in the fifties.. the picture would turn black & white and noise was added to the picture.
NVidia's new character Dawn was major eye candy for the men watching the realtime rendering of all the demos that were being played Monday morning. The colours looked superb, and the sliders gave Dawn some very realistic facial expressions.
The dancing ogre was pretty interesting to watch. Using the sliders, varying degrees of detail could be seen on the Ogre's skin. On the one side of the spectrum, the lines would be embedded in the skin, while at the other end, the lines would form bumps on the skin's surface. In the last picture, you will be able to see the lines in the skin, and also the detail & realism in the cloth on the Ogre's backside.
