Far Cry

Far Cry was one of the smash hits of 2004. Our test scene for Far Cry is pretty geometry intensive with a fly by over a densely forested area. We are still runing Far Cry 1.1 for two reasons - the 1.2 patch got pulled because of problems with other cards. There is also a 1.3 patch in the works that adds support for Shader Model 2.0b (1.1 had support for Shader Model 3.0). Other features include Geometry Instancing which should be supported on both Nvidia and ATI cards. Until the smoke clears and the a public patch is released, we will be sticking with 1.1

With AA/AF off, we once again see the X700Pro and the 6600GT running at nearly identical framerates. Flicking on the AA/AF switch drops the X700 back substantially. It will be interesting to see how well Far Cry runs on the later patches with all the razzle dazzle featuresets of both card series being exploited.
