ATI RADEON X700 - PAGE 6
Terren Tong - Tuesday, September 21st, 2004

Unreal Tournament 2004

With the X800 and 6800s, UT2k4 is basically CPU bound at all resolutions without AA/AF. We do observe some drop off with the 6600GT and more so with the X700 Pro. The 6600GT and X700 Pro are neck and neck at 1024 and 1280. The 6600GT is clearly faster at 1600 however. With AA/AF on, the 6600GT holds a slight lead at 1024 and 1280 but at 1600 the performance gap is closed. Framerates on both cards are playable at all resolutions.

Halo

Halo is a shader intensive game and the higher theoretical fillrate of the 6600GT shows up the X700 Pro here. We see a smallish gap at 1024 with no AF. The gap increases signficantly at 1280 and 1600 - we're talking on the order of roughly a 40% difference. With AF on, the 6600GT holds a commanding lead over the X700 even at 1024.
