Nano-suits, super abilities and jaw dropping visuals were a primary running force behind the original Crysis in 2007. The game received many notes of praise from the media while the greatest challenge from the gaming masses seemed to be running the game well enough to get a glimpse of that same glory.
Fast forward to 2008 now and CryTek has come around with Crysis Warhead for the PC. Warhead also comes with the bonus multi-player inclusion of Crysis Wars, installed indepedently of the main game. We’re going to look at both through this review to try to give you a good sense of what they are all about.
Our review is on a fairly mid-range system. Here are the specs are :
- AMD Athlon X2 4200+
- ECS KN1 Lite (NForce 4)
- ATI Radeon X1800XT 512
- Creative X-Fi Xtrememusic
- Corsair XMS PC3200 (3GB)
- Seagate 250GB 7200RPM HDD
And for software:
Windows XP SP2
ATI Catalyst 8.8
AMD Fusion Software
Your first question might be whether this machine is a capable build to run the game and get respectable results -- and the answer would be yes. Very much so. This system was much more capable of running Warhead than it was the original Crysis. Running Fusion also give things a nudge by helping drive speed and optimizing our video profiles.
With all that said, lets jump into the meat of things.
