9/10! Awesome.

Really wish you hadn't added the thing about the ending, but then again I might be blown away with it and expecting a "meh" ending will make it all that more awesome. Interested in this surprise antagonist you mention though, sucker for a plot twist me.

Fantastic review RCG, can't wait to get my hands on the game... I just wish Friday would get here sooner.

Dragoon I don't often mention game endings AT ALL in my reviews, even excluding the details. However, I sometimes feel that my feelings on an ending are worth mentioning -- like in my Mass Effect 3 review. Heh.

So yeah, sorry about that. I wanted to bring it up though.

Time will tell if it was a bad thing or not, but if it is expect a knock at your door.

Great read, I'm glad to see that the developers respected Garrett's humanity, that he is mortal and equally at risk from pursuers as those before him.

Interesting that you really liked it. I haven't read a single other review that did. Everyone is going about it's limited exploratory ability and extraordinarily rough edges.

Euphoric I haven't had a chance to check out other reviews. I can understand that it isn't everyone's cup of tea, but I enjoyed the hell out of the game, personally.

Planning to go back and replay some of the missions with high aggression (kill guards) for lulz. bluexy knows what I'm talking about -- buying all the serrated arrows.

Edit: Just glanced over some other sites to check out complaints. I won't call them totally invalid, because they are the opinions of other gamers, but I do think some people went into this game with skewed expectations, perhaps thinking it would be completely like the classic games or totally new and UNLIKE the classic Thief games.

In my mind, it felt like a combination of both. The atmosphere was reminiscent of the early Thief games at times, and certain gameplay elements felt like throwbacks, like the way you'd approach an objective. But the new Thief doesn't just feel like a remake -- it's supposed to be a reboot. Decisions like escalating the anxiety and stress to full-blown horror, giving you the option to go full Corvo. And I didn't go into this game expecting it to be Skyrim; considering my first playthrough came in around 24 hours, namely due to how much time I spent running around the city areas, I clearly had fun with the exploration.

I guarantee a lot more people are going to enjoy this game than some reviewers are letting on.

I've only played the Prologue so far. I definitely like it as it stands now.

Good thing I didn't read the review fully, because it seems you included a spoiler. As a certain someone I know is aware, I "BOO! HISSSSSS!" at spoilers >_>

Shadow of Death What spoiler?
Included only what I felt was necessary. However, if there's a way that you guys feel I can be even more vague, please let me know.

This is interesting, other reviews I've seen have definitely made this game sound "meh" at best.
I always hate when game reviews are like this. Because it means it's a crap shoot if I will.

But it's enough to where I was really excited, and was planning on buying it- now I'm just going to wait until I can either rent it, or it drops really low in price.

I didn't read, that's the point XD Just something about the ending that Dragoon mentioned is all. I don't like spoilers, period. End of.

Yes, not even THAT. Or THIS.

Only time I ever look up anything about a game is if I'm not sure I want to get it. Otherwise, nospoilerseveratallofanykindwhatsoever.

Shadow of Death Oh, well I didn't mention details, if that makes you feel better. Just felt I should point out the ending didn't impress me!

To the guest above who asked about Dishonored: Thief is definitely not the same game as Dishonored, but I guess I could say, "Yes, it is as good as Dishonored." Both are vaguely steampunk and involve some sort of plague, but the gameplay and that style are not the same. I will say, however, that I enjoyed Dishonored immensely

Rude_Boy_Loves_SKA Do yourself a favor and play it EVENTUALLY, at least. It's really a lot of fun.

I will say that I wasn't sure if I was going to get this game; until I read this review. All the other reviews I read were mostly negative, but they were all about one paragraph worth, which tells me it's usually just a quick rant. I appreciate the time and effort that went into this review. Shows that it took time and pointed out pros and cons to the game. So thanks. Looks like I will be getting the game tomorrow
