Since last weeks review on the 570b LCD display by Samsung, which scored rather disappointingly, we felt it was only right to review a higher end model from this manufacturing giant. The Samsung 15 150MP LCD was under the microscope this week and proved to be far superior compared to its sibling display. Not only did the 150MP display provide high-end text and graphics, it also included a built in TV tuner. The 150MP is rather pricey for a 15 monitor, even after the recent price drops Samsung announced on many of its displays.

The Samsung 15 150MP monitor is also an active matrix TFT LCD display, which provides higher quality than the older passive matrix displays. The advantages of LCD displays are widely known, as are their technical limitations. However, technology for LCD displays is constantly advancing and hopefully, we will soon see the wide adoption of LCD screens in close to all homes.
Installation and Setup
Samsung monitors have always been simple to install, and the 150MP is no exception. Just plug it in, let Windows detect it, and install the drivers provided with the monitor, as easy as that. Not really. Its actually a pain to get the video cables plugged and secured onto the back of the screen. It requires some precise maneuvering and a little bit of patience. There are other inputs on the back of the monitor allowing it to display video from different sources. Buttons placed at the front of the display allow users to easily choose between the sources. The display comes bundled with the Colorific Software, which appears to be included in most Samsung monitors. Samsung has however removed the auto button but placed an auto function into the OSD. By using the auto function, maximizing the screen usage becomes easy, but not as easy as using the single button on the lower end models. The buttons on the display are extremely sensitive to the touch, but very nice to use. Even though, you may end up hitting the button one too many times.

Would it be ok to link to your site from Samsung's website?
By the way, the price is now around $599-$699 and there is a $50 rebate going (on the site it says $1200
Helman@Samsung
Sure that is fine to link the review from Samsung's site.
Thanks for the update on the price.
My unit does have one stuck "on" pixel always showing color blue on darker scenes and unfortunately right smack dab in the upper middle portion of the screen where it is very noticeable (dang!).
Other than these observations and the one pixel defect, I am happy with its overall performance. It is not as good picture-wise as the newest and larger 171MP (which I also bought and have) but it is decent nevertheless.
So if someone could tell me if there was indeed a change or modification made to the 150MP latest batch of units as compared to the older original issue units, I'd much appreciated it. And tell me what the main differences are.
Are the newer units a watered down cost cutting version of the older unit? If so, I need to know fast so that I can go exchange my newer (made in Sept 2002) unit for an older (made in March 2002) unit to get the more expensive older technology... mine does not have the nice capacitive electro touch sensitive buttons on the front panel!
BTW, I bought it from Office Depot for $549 + tax with a $100 rebate offer. I have not sent in for the rebate yet in anticipation that I might have to return this unit for a better one without a stuck pixel in the middle of the screen. Fast responses needed! I have only a week left to decide what to do... keep it, echange it, or return it for refund.
I would aprreciate an answer(s) from Samsung themselves if you are still monitoring these forums...!
Thanks.
The only thing they can tell me in NZ is that it is 10x years old.................I already knew that!!!
