I will say that I do have one big problem with the game and that is all the QTE's/instant deaths.
Are the QTE's that annoying? Because the instant death from QTE's aren't new at all. Remember re4? In the beginning you could get killed by a boulder when you are reaching the town and there are numerous examples in re4 and re5.
RE4 is 7 years old and doesn't have a QTE pop up ever couple of minutes do to everything...QTE's in any game piss me off, except for games like the Walking dead and heavy rain of course.

Ded Valve Ok, I'm playing it tomorrow regardless. I agree with Gamesta100, sometimes people have to value things for what they are and not for what they want them to be. Also the most negatives reviews I've read seem to focus on aspects that I didn't considered broken by any means (mobility and co-op), the only thing out of the two demos that I though needed more work was the cover system so I simply didn't used it and got through the game anyway.

People are complaining about the story being convoluted, about the games having too much filler segments and they forget previous resident evil titles, (which they are still in love apparently) where the stories almost never made sense until nearly the end and where you had to go through the entire mansion/police department/city to get a key/card/battery. In the end, resident evil has always been about ammo conservation and surviving against impossible odds while killing mutated stuff until you grow tire of it and hit the mercenaries mode. If you think the game isn't very survival anymore then turn up the difficulty, if you think there isn't enough horror play something else because this series change that aspect a lot of years ago.

I really wanted to like this, but I agree with most everything you've pointed out. The game has the same major issue that 5 did, and that's that it doesn't feel like Resident Evil, at all really. If you took out the cast I wouldn't guess it was Res in a million years, and I certainly wouldn't have dropped a bunch on the collector's edition. ._.

Oh well, at least 2 and 4 are still ace.

Yeah RE4 had them every now and then. RE6 on the other hand has one seemingly every 10 minutes. I don't mind QTE's if there isn't too many, if they don't often/always cause an instant deaths or game made for QTE's like Heavy Rain.

You have that right. The QTE's in this game are stupid. They have one for EVERYTHING. I'm crying here, to see such a great game series kill itself ( namely RE4 because the rest were okay.). The story is throw every which way and you would have to Bill Gates tell you what was happening. A truely sad game. Only bad if you really need a decent co-op game, but with BL2 out you souldn't need one.

I don't get why everyone ever hates QTE's so much. I quite like them

That's what I was saying, some of the people complaining about this game have played and liked RE4 and/or RE5 and in those games there are QTE's for everything. Jumping small gaps, climbing ladders, hitting enemies after stunning them, in cutscenes, etc...

Not scary? Well if I didn't like non scary horror games (no I'm not calling RE6 a horror game) then I wouldn't like 99% of horror games Also RE is no longer scary. RE used to be scary? Don't know which RE1-CVX games I played then Well RE3 was pretty scary thanks to Nemesis.

Thank you so much. Seriously, thank you. RE has never been horror, it's just even less horror now. Which might be cool for some people, I understand, but I just can't stand the series past RE4. And by 'past', I don't mean RE5 and 6. I mean the whole goddamn shebang. It's all stupid and ridiculous and I can't stand them.

Your opinion is worthless.

*bleep* RE was always horror, had all the mechanics that fit the genre to boot. It may not have scared you but every genre was defined by it's mechanics and to it's core, RE was about as horror as it gets. Well survival/horror anyways.

Also your opinion is worthless, not on this particular subject but overall your just worthless. I don't know what Mo see's in you.

I don't think it's the fact that RE's scared people...though I will admit, back in those days I was terrified. Though I eventually realized that it was the controls and the gameplay that would limit me in so many ways that it would challenge the crap out of me. Someone mentioned Nemesis...that scared you? Is it because it was an enemy that could easily cream you and you basically had almost NO WAY to fight back? Thank you, that's all I'm asking for...seriously.

Since RE4, there's been monsters 5 times the size of Nemesis and you know why you don't get scared? Because you have a giant gatling gun/rocket launcher/infinite ammo at your disposal. If I want a "horror" themed shooter, I might as well just stick to Dead Space...hell knows that series gets it right (minus the constant mind *bleep*ing...stop that Visceral). Capcom needs to know how to evolve that gameplay...they got the whole 'over the shoulder' thing right. By the time RE5 came out, so many shooters had already exploited to its fullest potential; RE5 already had archaic gameplay...one baby step at a time isn't gonna cut it in a market saturated with co-op shooter games.

I haven't played DS2 but DS was one of the least scary horror games I have ever played.

I'm in the minority but I would take just about any game over DS.
Yes it's technically a great game but I found DS FAR more tedious than RE6.

That's because DS is an action game made to look like a horror game. I honestly prefer Revelations, it wasn't as nerve wracking but for an action game it got the horror theme much better than Dead Space imo. Chris ruined it though.

I found DS to be much more entertaining than RE5 ever was.

I think Dead Space it's right now what Resident Evil used to be. It has an interesting story, varied enemy types, big atmosphere and the sense that you are actually alone against huge odds. When you don't have 999 shotgun and pistol rounds the game becomes an actual challenge. That's what made earlier Resident Evil games interesting and the jump scares work a lot better when you can't just spam rockets everywhere.

Resident Evil it's not survival horror anymore. It's an action franchise and that's ok, but it could be a lot better with some more polish to a few of the basic mechanics. Specially the cover system, the abundance of QTE's and the actual movement. If you have scenarios where you can constantly jump over stuff you should have and actual jump button even if it only works to jump certain gaps, like in uncharted where you can jump everywhere but you can't jump to your death if you are not meant to. The movement shouldn't be QTE based.

Nah man they were just shitty and boring and around 90% of people I talk to who have played them that AREN'T fanboys tell me that there were no scares to be had. The cores might be there, but that could be said of Silent Hill Homecoming, Alone in the Dark Inferno, Dead Space, Condemned, The Suffering, and countless other base horror games that just aren't horror.

Also you suck dick. <3

I hope you never get that promotion *bleep*. I hope mo leaves you and I hope you end up in a box covered in newspaper covered in piss. Fortunately you suck at life, so I won't have to hope for too long (except mo who still loves you despite your constant physical abuse for some reason).
