I expected trainer-customization features and larger overall Pokemon parties this time around, but I'm still ecstatic that these long-awaited remakes have finally arrived!

I can't wait to see what these new titles have in store as far as sticking to the original linear events of Gold and Silver while adding extra twists along the way.

Oooh...

Ok, time to hit the Wiki and see what it'll take for me to assemble a team of my personal favorites - Swampert, Skarmory and... crud, I named mine 'Wee%&^&er' and now I forget the species!

Any new evolutions lurking within perchance?

Cheers,
Adrian

I doubt that any Generation 5s will happen upon us just yet...

Nothing new in the game, Pokémon wise. I like the game, I got HeartGold, a lot though. Lots of nostalgic value and everything just looks great. I've invested 30 hours into it so far and I am not feeling the least bit tired of playing it yet XD. Nothing even really feels 'old' anymore. Some people have beaten the game is the time it took me to get the first 8 badges (~24 hours, some beat it in 18 =/).

I think it defeats the purpose of games like these to complete them in under a day.

Drawing out the experience is the only way to go.

Well, of course.

The Generation 5 games are next in line for that.

It was in response to Thrombosis =P I've got 12 badges a balanced, but underleveled, team for now.

Right now, I've got 16 badges and my hifhest level Pokemon is level 59 but I am in front of the Champion repeatedly getting my ass handed to me...his first guy is a level 72 Salamence...I've got 40 hours now.

edit » I let him beat me...and I only lost $7200 of my $500000, I thought you lost half D:

This is a great review. It captured the feelings of almost every veteran Pokemon player. The nostalgia and fun that comes with every Pokemon game far outshines the clear lack of effort from Game Freak. While a completely new Pokemon experience would be cool, I still have a blast every time I boot this game up. And I think the review captured that perfectly.

Wow.

The strongest the Pokemon in the Generation 1 Elite Four were at most Lv. 60.

I just recently found out that the feature to let any one Pokemon follow you around anywhere you go(imitating the Yellow Version of 99')has been made available in these installments and I couldn't be more ecstatic!

Granted, it came a little later than I had initially expected. *coughDiamondandPearlcough*

Yes, twelve is a perfectly acceptable number. In the second generation, you can go through Johto and Kanto, making for a total of sixteen badges all up. So at the time of that post, they didn't even have every badge. ^^
