Need For Speed: Porsche Unleashed Review - PAGE 1
Adam Byrant - Wednesday, April 19th, 2000

Introduction

EA has done it again, or rather, a fifth time. The well-known racer game series Need for Speed revs up to new levels in the fifth installment entitled Porsche Unleashed. You get your hands on over 80 Porsches, spanning different eras and classes. Take a ride through history starting from the birth of the very first Porsche some 50 years ago, to the very latest models. If that isn't more than enough, you can also jump in the driver's seat as a factory test driver for Porsche, where you are given various tasks and challenges to meet within certain requirements. With a beautiful interface, stunning graphics, and the introduction of the new 4-point physics model, playing Need for Speed 5: Porsche Unleashed could land you in court having to explain why a computer game gave you the urge to drive 120 through an intersection.

Unlike the previous NFS games, PU exclusively features Porsches. As you may know, the original NFS contained only a single Porsche by contrast, and now with the arrival of Porsche's 50th anniversary, it's only appropriate that EA puts the legendary car maker in the spotlight. Any Porsche you've ever dreamed of driving is here, including the Boxster S, GT1, and the signature 911 Turbo. All cars are the mirror image of their real-life counterparts as demonstrated by their exceptionally realistic handling, thanks to the new physics model used in PU’s construction.
