Very nice review. It was a nice read, and very informative. I will not be purchasing Modern Warfare 2.

THERE'S NOT ENOUGH COMPLAINING ABOUT HOW ACTIVISION-BLIZZARD ARE THE WORST DEVS IN THE WORLD AND ARE RUINING THE FUTURE OF GAMING FOR EVERYONE

But otherwise (), it's a really good review from a PC player perspective. It's nice to see the multiplayer in its entirety getting such a thorough review while remaining consistently fair and without any tone of bias. I believe 8.2 seems a very accurate score.

It certainly seems informative, but I feel that they left out how everyone gets killed so quickly making it to at least me makes it strangely different.

AB is the publisher here, IW is the developer.

Infinity Ward are a part of Activision though aren't they?

Edit: Indeed they are.

Thats not the point^
It's that not all of AB developed the game, just IW.

8.2 seems a bit lenient for the pc version as it is a heavily multiplayer game missing third party dedicated server support and it is lacking basic functions or options that have been in pc games since '97.
Although it wont stop most people from buying it, which is the real problem here, people are tools.

Unfortunately while it's lacking support we can't ding them on a feature they're not promising. For what it is it works to some degree (IW.Net).

Putting it in a 6-7 range would indicate that the system itself is broken or unplayable. It's just ungodly frustrating at times and lacking. Given that Operation Flashpoint just tried to push the same thing we're stuck trying to push the points in our words instead of just the numbers.

6-7 for broken and unplayable? Sounds like it's setup for games to look good on paper but end up having major flaws if people dont look into them enough.

People should actually read the reviews instead of just looking for numbers first. Unfortunately that seems to be a dying era. Soon we'll have to twitter our impressions with a score as well hoping people catch the point of what was once 3 pages.

We dumped our ratings for years because of complaints just like that. Now they're back because the industry at large is obsessed with throwing scores around like they hold all the meaning.

*bleep* twitter. I can't stand it. Nobody should care about what you're doing or thinking in only 140 characters. If it was important or had any reasoning it wouldnt only be 140 character. Facebook updates also are grouped in with twitter in my book.

Unfortuantely though, you're right, most people do look at the scores first. I read the review and played the game a bit and that's why the score surprised me so much.

In a way you're right that you can't fault a game for something it's not promising but when it's not promising some things that are so fundamental and basic how can fault be denied?

I'm not saying the point system should be scrapped as it does give some sort of perspective on the game but the points should reflect the writers words. Put weight to some things over others. I know reviews are more about perspective and opinion but there comes a point when if you don't have the basics covered they need to take a step back and look at the whole picture and not just the singular game.

Well written review and the writer didnt skimp too much on details but i jsut dont feel that the score reflected the words. Could be he was weighing things differently than myself which is the most probable thing. Like I said though it's all about perspective so I'm not upset or anything but idk just seemed off.

Nor was my point particularly serious, as if I credit Activision more than I do Infinity Ward (not a chance.)

Also, I'd personally give the game an 8.2 rather happily, it's pretty much just a refined experience though lacking a bulk of features. So I agree with VeGi.
