if WOTC cared how many copies you got, they would have set up some kind of way to prevent people from doing that. they obviously dont. in fact the more DOTP cards are in circulation, the more it might help advertise the DOTP games. ive talked to several MTG players that didnt even know DOTP existed.

i got 2 of each of the promo cards. dont know if you knew but you can take those promo print outs to as many MTG stores as you want, they dont "enter" the code into anything so theres no way for them to know if you've used a code more than once. i sold one Nocturnus with the other promos and kept the other, basically paying for a copy on Xbox, PS3 and Steam.
But that's so dishonest

...brb printing off more PS3 codes

I feel my purchase was worthwhile anyway.

Trafalgar An update was just released which seems to have fixed the MP issues. I tested Quick Match and three custom 1v1 matches and all connected immediately.
Haha, I already bought it! But thanks for the notification

I wanted that promo Vampire Nocturnus. That's how I justified the purchase to myself anyway haha. I guess I also wanted to try Planechase, especially after reading your review... and although I have been experiencing connection issues in the multiplayer, I feel my purchase was worthwhile anyway. If they've patched the issues now, that'll be the icing on the cake as far as I'm concerned!

Trafalgar That's understandable, then, yes. I don't think it's unreasonable, though it's worth noting it seems like they're not even aware of the issue. It was mentioned in a recent column they've noticed most players play Duels offline. Well, of course they do if multiplayer is broken. So that leads me to believe they're ignorant to the problem. I have no idea how it could've gotten by them...

It's definitely an advert, though also I think still good on its own or as a complement to paper Magic. I've also been hooked on paper Magic since, though I'm glad for it.

There are STILL connection issues? Well thanks, Neoseeker. I was on the fence about getting this, but now I'm decided. That was the most frustrating thing about an otherwise solid 2012 instalment, for me.
I don't think it's a good enough reason to skip the game, but that's me. Just host games only. The decks are better than ever.
It's more a matter of principle. If after three instalments of the game they still can't find an adequate solution for quite a major and well documented problem, then I don't think it's worth my investment. I mean the whole thing is pretty much just a huge advert for the card game itself (DotP 2012 got me hooked and they've made hundreds in draft and sealed events from me since!)... I guess it just feels like a lack of effort? Maybe I'm being unreasonable ^^'

Jace's deck is supposed to be pretty good (havent used it), but i use Ancient Wilds mostly, the alternate green deck which is pretty beastly with all unlocked and set up right. you can ramp with it decently enough, its got big enough creatures and a couple enchantments to give you free creatures. tricks like bouncing Acidic Slime to set your opponent back a land each turn or kill his artifacts, plus Eternal Witness which is a totally BA card.

I only played PS3 DotP 2012, so I didn't see the connectivity problems, so I don't think it should affect me too badly. Can't wait to see that Mill deck they added.

i only occasionally have connection issues, most of the time i can join and play a multiplayer game just fine, in both this and the last game. didnt know that was a big problem.

only big complaint i have with it is they STILL didnt fix the land draw rates. if your starting hand has 1 or 2 lands, you will draw hardly any lands the rest of the game. if your starting hand has 5+ lands, you will be completely flooded with land the rest of the game. its not a realistic draw ratio at all.

other than that, minor things like there only being 1 multicolored deck or still not being a wide variety of cards and deck styles. oh and Planechase mode is totally stupid and not fun when playing with AI.

but the decks do seem better than 2012 on the whole, and the AI seems a bit smarter than before. on Mage difficulty the AI does make some stupid mistakes which i guess pretty well exemplifies noob players.
