The gaming world is full of WWII titles, many make excellent efforts to provide the best single player or multiplayer experiences. In the case of Day of Defeat the goal was multiplayer goodness, of course as HL2 and CS: Source made their appearances in the gaming world the general visual appeal of DoD started to fall through. Soon after Valve announced they would be picking up the title as their next port to the Source engine.
Through numerous months of concept art and teasers the game looked to be shaping up quite well. Then they dropped the suprise inclusion of HDR and really started to stir up waves. As time passed the game release was often debated only for it to be announced with a definite month and soon after a definite date over Steam.
Users that pick up Day of Defeat Source have two options currently. Purchasing a CS: Source and DoD: Source bundle at retail outlets or purchasing DoD over Steam without Counter-Strike. Honestly if it's a multiplayer experience that is desired then the pack is a good choice for those that didn't pick up HL2 and get CS: Source already.
With all that said lets jump into things and start taking in the game.

Im still not so sure though i really hope its free!!! DOD is tha bomb!!!!
Plain and simple Collectors Edition people like me and you don't get DOD:S for free which means I won't be getting it at all.
I got all the seperate games by buying em. Its only £9.88 to buy new on steam.
But people who bought the collectors retail-edition, or the gold- or silverpackage have already preordered DOD:S. In other words, they'll be able to upload it and play it on the official release without extra costs.
Only if they got the normal (bronze) package
Anyway, I'm pre-loading it at this very moment, and I pre-ordered it a minute ago
Can't wait 'till the release, the 26th of september
EDIT: cool Mupet, I might buy all the other HL-games too someday. I bought the generation-pack which is supposed to have them all, but Steam won't accept my CDkey

P.S, If you have the collectors edition you DO NOT get DoD:S.
Are you 100% sure... I believe it says so on the box.
Oh well, anyway, the release is about 11 days away from us. Has anyone played the original DoD? I didn't
I imagine it being kinda like Call of Duty...
It's only $18 though, so I'm not too bummed.
When you buy from retail you get a CD-KEY to register on steam right. If you bought the collectors edition or standard you still get the same type of key.
With steam, its not cd-keys, its accounts that give you access to games, not cd-keys.
Yes im 100% sure, im gonna pre-order my copy on steam soon.
Anyway, I preordered it, just 10 more days
Its wicked. 1 more day!
Awesome graphics and sounds, sweet animations, cool levels.
Seems like an amazing game... much better than Call of Duty or MoH online play.
EDIT: Finally got to play on a normal server. This game is awesome. Kind of hard to get used to after playing cs:s though.

I thought it might be my resolution but it's the same as my desktop. Does anyone have an idea on how to fix this?
EDIT: It seems to have fixed itself... and it's soo freaking cool
It reminded me of Call of Duty, mixed with a bit of mohaa and than there's this little touch that makes it DoD
Great game, truly worth the cash, maybe this will get me off CS
