Dead Rising is a title that brings up fond memories of zombie movie classics, and zombie massacres on the Xbox 360. In original, Xbox 360 version of this game, players were able to decimate hordes in real-time combat with a variety of weapons and vehicles. It was all presented with an overwhelming sense of danger, extreme zombie hordes, and plenty of opportunities for exploring the game world.
So, when Capcom announced that the game would be coming to the Wii, there were some fans with concerns about how it would turn out. The Xbox version was demanding, with massive amounts of AI needed at any given time, wide spread and large level design, and high visual quality serving as key components that made the original what it was. Today we'll find out if this port is a pass, or a fail.
Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop, for the Wii, uses the Resident Evil 4 engine and works to preserve the same design, function and visuals as the original game -- of course, this was frin the outset, an optimistic goal given the hardware hurdles the Wii has to overcome. As a result, there were a few game changes, such as the level design of the mall was changed somewhat, the 'photo mode' has been removed and the game has become more linear in comparison to the 360 version of the game.
The changes on paper seem to be enough to make the game worth considering, given some of the frustrations and mechanics of the original game, but we’ll find out more, as we step into the coming pages, to see if the port has enough of the zombie-action-essence that it takes to be worth the purchase price.
