Custom Robo Review - PAGE 3
Gabriel Vega - Thursday, May 27th, 2004

Custom Robo doesn't redefine anything really, but it does provide for a good bit of gameplay time which registered about 8-9 hours in the play through. This actually doesn't include the second half of the story mode as players continue the story in a tournament designed to set the new standings for Robo license rankings. The game itself presents pleanty of fun for gamers of all ages, the original story mode occupies quite a bit of time and offers players amusing responses to questions they are presented with. As players fight more, they are able to attain new parts, this isn't the only method though, players can do a variety of other modes such as arcade or versus. These allow for players to build up more points and earn more unique parts. Eventually though the final road is in Grand Battle where players are able to find the illegal parts and more unique parts they'll encounter in the first part of story mode. These items are scattered all over the city though so it will take quite a bit of time to track them all down.

Overall the game delivers on target to the audiences, multiplayer allows for new blood to take advantage of the owners hard work and have access to all of their robos and weapons with no prior work, great stuff until they start winning, then it becomes a problem especially if they use Rahu III. The story is simple but effective, it keeps players going in the game until they finish, then it becomes an all out brawl to beat the Grand Battle mode.

We award Custom Robo an 8.7/10 (87%), Custom Robo delivers much needed gameplay enjoyment into the market for multiplayer madness or solo star performances in mech form, something that isn't seen all that often these days.

I'd like to thank Rebecca and the GCI staff for sending this title down for review along with another to join our readers tomorrow.
