Graphics, Sounds, & Weapons
The graphics, to say the least, are extraordinary. This three-dimensional experience will leave gamers fulfilled because of the intense display. There are a number of high quality textures and special effects, especially when blowing up enemy aircraft. The concentrated effect of having a ship blow to pieces as you fly through the wreckage is indeed a tremendous experience. The background scenery of neighboring planets and asteroids are also impressive sights to see. The environment is highly detailed and consists of a full spectrum of colours. This kind of setting makes flying an aircraft a passion, instead of a mission. And when your space fighter is going at full speed, the graphics in the game absorb players deeper into its grasp. As the stars and space debris speed past you at blistering speeds, the gameplay improves and makes piloting an aircraft indeed an envious career.
The sounds are also very well done in the game. The special sound effects of the
gun blasts and shield armaments make for a very enticing game. Destroying an enemy target also has inviting sounds and gamers will desire for more ship devastation. Another positive quality in Bang! Gunship Elite is the fast load times. A great graphical scene is displayed while gamers wait an instance to get back into the action. Additionally, the learning curve is minimal as with most shooter games. Even gamers who are new to the three-dimensional genre will find themselves very comfortable behind controls of the futuristic war machine. Players will also find the auto-target an easier way to obliterate the enemy vessels. It highlights the field of vision for the pilot and makes destroying any ships that are in the opposition cleaner and easier.
There are a total of ten different weapons available for those gamers with itchy trigger fingers. The default gun is an Ion Blaster, and gamers will have unlimited ammunition for this weapon. This gun does have heat-seeking abilities for first level enemy targets.
However as the stages progress, the heat seeking ability of the Ion Blaster is negated as the technology on the bigger space vessels increases. The second weapon available to gamers is the Flux Beam. This gun has a dual particle emitter and is needed to destroy larger vessels, as the shields on these enemy ships are more advanced. An even more powerful gun is the Phase Shift Cannon, which has a triangular output blast radius; this is used primarily to destroy cruiser type space vessels. The fourth weapon available is the Magma Cannon. It shoots rapid and powerful laser shots, which explode upon contact of the target. The Electron Lazer is useful for close combat since there is no splash damage. It is also one of the fastest weapons in the game, making for an immediate disposal of the enemy ships. The sixth gun is called the Plasma Cannon. It is the most powerful weapon in the game and has a large blast radius with huge destructive power. The next gun on the list is the Stasis Cannon, which should be used against large ships.
It is a very powerful gun that explodes its bursts of energy upon contact. The Titan’s Hammer is another extremely powerful laser shot/missile. In the single player mode, this weapon has a homing device. The Hellfire is a powerful weapon, however only experienced pilots will have make use of it. It is extremely hard to get a target lock with this gun, and its laser projectiles are relatively slow in speed. The last gun available to gamers is the Sonic Cannon. This weapon shoots an extremely powerful laser shot, which has a middling travel time. Although each power up has a limited amount of ammunition, the Sonic Cannon is extremely powerful and lethal. Its shot speed is effective, and blast radius is good enough to send new pilots home with a medal of valor.
