Design Cont'd
Interspersed in the playing field are several different forms of obstructions that you must beware of. The first and most annoying of these are the asteroid fields. These formations of fractured rock impede movement across the map, and some move around the screen, momentarily blocking off means of escape. The second obstacle are the various nebulae. These are represented with very beautiful translucent lightmaps that fade into and out of view to illustrate the inner turmoil of these gaseous giants. The final type of in game obstacles are the wormholes and the black holes. The wormholes are able to open up in a brilliant swirling vortex of light and instantaneously transport your ship to another location on the map. The black holes are benign to all but derelict ships, whereby their gravitational pull causes the ship to be crushed by the immense weight.
Gameplay
The gameplay is very similar to that of every other RTS on the planet, and unfortunately for this game, there is nothing too revolutionary or unique (save the Star Trek theme) that makes it stand out from the rest. The sound was average, with nothing too horribly notable about the musical score. The voice acting by the cast was not bad, however the dialogue was a tad inane at times. Resource harvesting is quite simple, with the only resource that you have to worry about being Dilithium. The Dilithium repositories come in the form of little blue and purple glowing moons that are placed throughout the game. The blue moons have a finite amount of Dilithium, whereas the purple moons provide an infinite supply. Thus if you can find a purple moon, it is to your benefit, for you know that resources will always be at hand.
