Introduction
You can't call yourself an FPS fan and say you haven't heard of Daikatana. Brought to you by John Romero, a man who needs no introduction. With such a commendable developer at the helm of Daikatana and 4 years in development, one would expect a fantastic piece of work that is a gem in the world of first-person shooters. Never could there be a bigger lie. There are but 2 words that when spoken, I feel pretty low and disturbed. These words are failure and disappointment. These are the words that directly embody Daikatana.
Story
Here comes the story... You're Hiro Miyamato, master swordsman, and student of Dr. Toshiro Ebihara, the famous doctor who found the cure for the AIDS virus some 400 years ago. I'll stop here. There is already something incredibly moronic about the character. Hiro, pronounced "hero", is not clever (which it obviously was intended to be), not amusing,
and amazingly lacking thought and effort. It's just like the name "Bob" in Messiah. You might say I'm nitpicking, but afterall it is the little things that count. Hiro's ancestor, Usagi Miyamoto is the forger of the Daikatana sword. After determining that it is too powerful to be wielded by mere mortals, Usagi threw the sword into a volcano. One one dark and stormy night, Hiro is visited by a Toshiro Ebihara. He tells Hiro that Kage Mishima, the man who rules Japan, has taken the Daikatana and discovered its time-travel capabilities. He was using it to go back in time and set things to benefit himself even more, and Hiro must stop him. He'll have help along the way, from 2 sidekicks, one of whom is Toshiro's daughter, Mikiko. More on these two later...
