Anime Expo 2007 Report - PAGE 3
Gabriel Vega - Tuesday, July 3rd, 2007

Once in a great lifetime we see great collaborations, a group of so much talent that it's just mind blowing. In the opening show for AX 2007 they brought anime, j-rock and just japanese cultural fans something they would have killed their own families to attend. S.K.I.N. the Japanese supergroup featuring Gackt, Miyavi, Sugizo and Yoshiki. I mean just right there you have the top names in J-Rock that make peoplke want to scream. Tickets were 50 for the premium / premier tickets and if you were lonesome outside of the show as it was about to go down you could score a deck / lodge seating ticket for free. Yes, thats right. Seeing all four of them for free if you were down there registered at the show.

Minus the whole like 2hr wait just for things to start it wasn't that bad, what went on during that time, I don't think we'll ever be sure given that the screen was closed the whole time with nothing really coming of it. In fact at one point with a Nintendo DS it could be seen that most people were caught up in Mario Kart and not the insane amount of time they spent sitting. Granted of course, it is a group assembled with enormous potential.

Once the show got underway it was amazing, a calming start to introduce the band, and despite the requests, tons of cameras, phones, camcorders and etc going off in the arena. As such if one were to Youtube "S.K.I.N. Gackt" or something like that, they would find themselves with some lower res captures of the show.

At the time of writing I still don't have a complete set list that they went through, but given the videos on youtube it can be said that chances are people will get an idea of how nuts it was. From the first songs the tone of the show was already well set, the guitar strength was spot on, Gackt was nailing the vocals as well as driving the crowd insane as at points he would touch himself setting the fangirls on fire. Honestly of the whole show this was probably the loudest, most brain numbing of them all and it was great, I think most fans that are into J-Rock will totally end up appreciating this and hopefully we'll see a CD release soon because honestly it was just that great.
