Max Payne Sneak Peak - PAGE 5
K. Lee - Thursday, July 27th, 2000

Final Thoughts

The one major aspect of Max Payne may be that it will have no multiplayer features. Confirmed by the Remedy team, they state that the game will not ship with this function because concentrated efforts on the single player aspect will make the game “much better”. Although some may believe that a game without multiplayer could be a weakness in deciding which one of the many games on the market to purchase, the developers disagree. Remedy believes that since there are so many great multiplayer games already on the market, the single player aspect to this game will be enough to smash the audience and draw gamers in to their field of vision. Project Lead Petri Jarvilehto said “we believe strongly that it's better to do one thing right than two things mediocre. By focusing on the single player only, we can make sure that we can deliver a totally kickass single player experience and I'm certain that Max will be a lot better game because of that decision.” Although multiplayer capability is indeed one of the more important aspects to entertainment software, looking at the screenshots & trailers may be enough to draw potential buyers. This type of action is simply too good to dismiss.
