Resident Evil is probably the most recognized icon of the entire survival horror genre. Originally debuting on the first Playstation console, way back in the forgotten ages of the mid nineteen-nineties, the first Resident Evil game took cues from the Alone in the Dark series, added in a few tweaks to the gameplay, brought in a bunch of zombie-types, and then became a huge commercial and critical success. Since then, the game series has sold over a whopping 40 million copies across 20 different games, and has spread out into other forms of media, such as comics and film.
While the Resident Evil games have arguably always made much bigger splashes with the console gaming crowd than the PC gamers out there, the series does have a long history on the PC. The latest incarnation of which is, of course, Resident Evil 5.
So the question is: Is your computer going to have what it takes to play Resident Evil 5 on PC, come September 14th? Think you might have to upgrade your gaming rig in order to enjoy the resplendent slaughter in Capcom's latest?
A benchmark for the game was released, so we endeavored to find out for you what kind of video card your going to need to see the blood fly freely in all directions, in high-definition glory, because we like you a great deal. We tested 16 different video cards in order to help you try to decide whether you'll be able to get by with a inexpensive gaming video card, or a monster card, to really get the frames flying.
Next page we'll take a look at the benchmarks, and then after that, we will compare the DX9 mode to the game's DX10 mode, along with some detail setting screenshot comparisons to give you a feel for what to expect from this title.

Anyone know if you have to use a joypad or can you aim with the mouse?
Ya your 8800 GTS will have no troubles with this game, Celes.
I'm not sure about the mouse situation. I'd guess so, but I'm not sure. I certainly hope they implement mouse movement.
You should definitely do one of these for ArmA II and Operation Flashpoint 2 when it comes out
Edit: I forgot to clarify what I edited your post for; I just updated the link, is-all.
Benchmarks are a really useful thing, especially when we've got guys like me running grandpa cards haha, so I hope we get to see some more of these.
I can relate because I used to be the guy with a video card that was 4-5 generations back of the current, most of the time.
I might as well ask here: when are those new 58xx series cards dropping? I wanna pick up a pair of 4870s but I'm waiting for the price drop.
