80 Days from developer Inkle is an adventure game inspired by Jules Verne's classic novel "Around the World in Eighty Days" which chronicles the journey of Phileas Fogg and Passepartout as they attempt to circumnavigate the globe within eighty days.
Players set out eastward from London and have the freedom to select the next closest destination on the world map, with the aim to circle around back to London within 80 in-game days. The caveat is that players may not travel through a particular destination more than once, which may well determine what route players eventually take to (hopefully) complete the journey within the time frame.
The game features 148 cities as destinations, though many are not immediately accessible until players unlock them through a variety of criteria such conversing with other passengers, or exploring and purchasing time tables at the current city.
By taking certain routes, players may experience unique adventures as part of the story. Not all adventures are available on all routes, encouraging players to try different destinations each playthrough.
Inkle's mobile game is not to be confused with the Frogwares adventure game originally released in 2005 for Windows-based PCs, though they do share the same title.
This game is also known as Around the World in 80 Days in North America.
